Specialist farming and rural accountant Nicola Huntbach is made partner

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Nicola Huntbach as a partner at the Tarporley office.

Nicola joined the firm as an accounts junior in 2005 based at our Tarporley office. She attained the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification in 2007 and qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) in 2011.

Whilst studying, she was promoted to the position of Accounts and Audit Manager, and in 2012 was given responsibility for a portfolio of agricultural clients which she has grown significantly since.

Nicola, a farmers’ wife herself, specialises in accounting and tax for farming and rural businesses across Cheshire and North Wales.

“In these increasingly difficult times for farming and rural businesses, it is important to ensure that all aspects of accountancy and taxation is looked after by someone who really understands the industry,” said Nicola.

“Having my own farming family gives clients peace of mind that the advice I give, whether that’s the preparation or interpretation of company accounts, or tax planning advice on inheritance tax, capital gains tax or personal tax, it is based on my first-hand knowledge of running a business in this sector.”

“I am delighted to have been appointed as a partner of the firm and looking forward to offering continued advice and support to all of my clients,” added Nicola.

Our Managing Partner, Adrian Crank said, “Since joining HLB, Nicola has made a significant contribution to the firm. Her appointment as a partner is well deserved and on behalf of all HLB partners and staff, I would like to congratulate her and wish her every success.”

Hall Livesey Brown Merge with Colin F Whitfield & Co

We are pleased to announce that Hall Livesey Brown has merged its practice with Colin F Whitfield & Co.

The opportunity for us to merge with Colin Whitfield & Co arose following the firm’s managing partner, Simon Haynes, announcing his intention to retire in June 2018.

“Colin F Whitfield & Co has been looking for a credible firm to merge with and we have been looking for a practice with similar values to provide the services and same level of service clients of Colin F Whitfield & Co have come to expect from us over the years,” said Simon Haynes.

“While we are very proud of the more than 23 years history of our firm, we also recognised that the next step was to merge with a firm of comparable quality that would enable us to protect the interests of our clients,” added Simon.

“Hall Livesey Brown shares our philosophy of helping our clients grow and succeed, and the merger will enable us to offer more comprehensive business advice tailored to our clients, while ensuring continuity of service.”

Adrian Crank, Hall Livesey Brown’s Managing Partner spoke about his plans for the firm’s growth:

“Our practice was first established in 1924. In our ninety-year history, the practice has grown organically, expanding its office network across Cheshire and North Wales. As a progressive firm, we have decided to grow our practice through a merger because we believe that the addition of Simon Haynes from Colin F Whitfield & Co and our growing team will help us to better serve our client base,” said Adrian.

Our combined practice boasts a team of more than 35 professionals to service their dedicated client bases across the four offices in Tarporley, Chester, Wrexham and Shrewsbury.

Colin F Whitfield & Co have now closed their offices in Whitchurch and Wrexham, relocating their team to the Hall Livesey Brown office in Tarporley.

Hall Livesey Brown was advised on the acquisition by Alison Brennan, from North West law firm DTM Legal.
